Myrrh is a natural gum or resin extracted from a number of small, thorny tree species of the genus Commiphora. It has a rich, smokey, earthy aroma associated with high quality resin and has been used throughout history as a perfume, incense and medicine.
Unlike other resins a much denser release of smoke is released when burning Myrrh resin. This may be off-putting to some but through the release of its antibacterial concentrated compounds its thicker smoke serves to purify air.
