    Description

Two (2) business cards (each just under 2 ¼” by 3 ½”) from Dr. L.A. Falligant and Robert Falligant of Savannah, Georgia, circa 1870s to 1880s. The top one reads Dr. L.A. Falligant, 151 South Broad Street, Savannah, Ga., (Between Whitaker and Barnard Sts.), and the bottom one reads simply Robert Falligant. Louis Alexander Falligant (1836-1903) was a renowned physician from a prominent Savannah family. He helped guide his home city through a devastating Yellow Fever epidemic in 1876. Dr. Falligant wrote a book about it entitled A Monograph on the Yellow Fever of 1876 in Savannah. Two of his brothers served in the Confederate Army in the Civil War. The second business card is likely for one of them, Robert Shick Falligant, a lawyer and judge. The two business cards are in good or better condition with only light wear and soiling. Nice early Savannah GA items!
